Little Palestine Way — How Four Miles of Harlem Avenue Got Its Name

On July 11, 2026, four miles of Harlem Avenue were officially designated Little Palestine Way. The honorary stretch runs from 79th to 111th through Bridgeview, Burbank, Chicago Ridge, Palos Hills, and Worth — home to the largest Palestinian community in the United States and more than two hundred Arab-owned businesses. A second sign, on 87th Street, carries the name of Wadea Al-Fayoume, who was six years old. The day before the ceremony, the state pulled the sign installation.
